Day-By-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi – Agra – Delhi

The representatives pick you up from the hotels of your choice in Delhi, or from the location of your choice in Delhi and start the journey early in the morning. It will take 4 to 5 hours by road to reach Agra from Delhi. The drive along the country side of Uttar Pradesh is an experience to remember, where often ruins of some age old houses or walls can be spotted. The first stop is at the Taj Mahal. The white marbled mausoleum is a breathtaking site made by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mamtaz Mahal. The edifice is studded with precious and semi precious stones and is an architectural wonder even in this modern era. Taj was built by 22,000 skilled artisans and took 22 years to be made and many legends follow in relation to the building of this monument. From there the guests are taken to Agra Fort, but a lunch is done before heading to the red-sandstone fort. The fort has palaces with the Diwani Aam (Hall for public audience) and Diwani Khash (Hall for private audience). There are beautiful gardens and marble throne for the emperor. The fort has its share of stories and legends, where it is said the Emperor Aurangazeb house arrested his father Shah Jahan in Agra Fort and the former Mughal ruler used to see the Taj Mahal from the fort, as still the white marble wonder can be seen from a part of the Agra Fort. Also a brief visit to Itamd-ud-Dualah is on the list, a tomb made by empress Noorjahan in the memory of her father. From there the final destination before returning to Delhi is Fatehpur Sikri. Often called the ‘Ghost City’ had the honor of becoming the capital during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar, but the lack of water forced him to move the capital back to Delhi. The city has the overpowering Buland Darwaza and quite a few famous palaces. The architecture of the place is a blend of Mughal and Indian architecture. Before starting the journey for Fatehpur Sikri the guests can engage in buying souvenirs in Agra. This brings to the end of the Agra trip and starts the return journey to Delhi.
