Divided into two amorous parts – the orderly New Delhi and crumbling Old Delhi, that when visited will certainly make you feel a world apart. Delhi’s exquisite monuments, ancient royal forts and eye filling mosques can hold your attraction and bewitch you with the serene suave. Lotus temple, Connaught Plaza, Humayun’s tomb, Akshardham temple, Raj Ghat, India Gate are some of the magnetic and coaxing places to visit in Delhi.
The representatives will pick up the guests from the hotel in a car or coach and start the journey. Red Fort - The highlights of the journey will be the visit at the Red Fort. The sprawling fort has been part of the Indian history for ages since the Mughal Dynasty and still now it is the place from where the Prime Minister of India addresses the Independence Day speech on 15th of August. In 2007 Red Fort also known as Lal Quila became the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rashtrapati Bhawan – Also the Presidential House, until 1950 it was the ‘Viceroy’s House’ and till date it is the largest residence that any Chief of the State has as his or her residence. The building has 340 rooms and is built on 130 hectres of area. Qutub Minar – Many stories have been made about the building of this tower. It is also another UNESCO World Heritage Site and still the tallest brick minaret in the world with a towering height of 72.5 metres. Though it is known that Qutb-ud-din Aibak made the minar after he became the first Islamic ruler of India after defeating Prithviraj Chauhan, it is also said the Prithviraj started erecting the tower for his daughter to see River Yamuna. After Qutb-ud-din Aibak, the red sandstone minaret was completed by Iltutmish. Like most of the medieval architectures it is another marvel. Purana Quila – Mystery surrounds this fort, it is built by the second Mughal Emperoro Humayun and later on additions were made by Sher Shah. It is believed that that Quila is on the grounds of the ancient city Indraprashtha, which was founded during the age of Mahabharata by the Pandavas. Over the years many excavations has taken place and the artifacts that has been found from the time of the Mauryan dynasty to the Mughal periods are exhibited in the Archeological Museum of the Purana Quila. Jantar Mantar – It is one of the five astronomical observatories, though the first look of the place will give an impression of a art gallery and of modern architecture, it was built by Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur built in the year 1724. The building still houses several astronomical instruments that can be used. Jama Masjid – The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned to build this mosque in the year 1650 and has become the principal mosque in Delhi and one of the important ones in India. Over the years it has been part of many incidents but its glory never fades. Situated in Old Delhi’s busy street of the Chawri Bazar Road, 5,000 workers completed this largest mosque of India after six years of labour. Safdarjung’ Tomb – This tomb was made in the memory of the powerful Mughal Minister Shafdarjing of Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah. The architecture is of typical Mughal style and is said to be the last flickering lamp in the awe-inspiring Mughal architecture. Built in the year 1754, the extensive Persian garden and decorated, ornate gates are beautiful. Rajghat – The black marbled platform which holds the last remains of the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi is one of the highlights of Delhi visit. Bahai Temple – This temple is of the Bahai faith but even for those who are non-believers the visit to this temple is worthy because of its architecture. Made in the year 1986 in the shape of a gleaming lotus out of white marble is a beautiful piece of modern architecture. The one day Delhi tour ends with the returning of the guests to their hotels or respective destinations.
